Q LEAN SIX SIGMA IN CASE STUDIES ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW This assignment seems to take a slight break from the larger (traditional) Case Study research (described in Yin (2018)) methods to explore Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and how it applies to business solutions (cases)(George, et al (2005) and Zwetsloot et al. (2018)). Sometimes the LSS application to case studies and business solutions is not obvious, but necessary for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the triangulation of data. INSTRUCTIONS After reviewing the Learn material for the Module: Week, address the following paper in current APA format: 1. Define Lean Six Sigma and understand lean thinking 2. Understand the benfits of Lean Six Sigma 3. Explain and differentiate between the 5 principles of lean and the seven principles of Lean Six Sigma 4. Describe the phases of DMAIC and their activities 5. Explain how Lean Six Sigma brings a hint of all three traditional types of research (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods) to bear on Case Study research and business solutions. Required Format This 1600 minimum, 2400 maximum word paper needs to be written with these main sections: Cover page Abstract Introduction Lean Six Sigma and Lean Thinking Benfits of Lean Six Sigma Principles of Lean and Lean Six Sigma DMAIC Application of Lean Six Sigma Through All Types of Research Conclusion References Other Requirements Materials submitted to fulfill requirements in one course may not be submitted in another course. For papers this length, there should be at least two (2) ‘levels of headings’. • The introduction and conclusion sections should not be longer than ½ page each since the assignment is short in word count. • The required abstract should be written as a stand-alone document and not written as an introduction since an introduction section is required. Therefore, refrain from using phrases such as, “in this paper,” and do not use citations. See example in APA manual. • Sources of information from Wikipedia, dictionaries, and encyclopedia will not be accepted. • Paragraph lengths: Each paragraph should have a topic sentence unless it continues from or provides support to the prior paragraph. A paragraph is defined in this course as being at least 4 sentences in length. • All parts of the assignment must be based on scholarly and biblical literature. • Avoid clichés, slang, jargon, exaggerations, abbreviations, figurative language, and language that is too informal and too subjective. • Submit your final document for grading with file name syntax: Last NameFirst Initial Project#.
